Trash and recycling will not be collected on Monday, May 28, 2012, for residents of Benner, College, Harris, Ferguson and Patton Townships.

The State College–Centre Region area has been named a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.

At its March 26, 2012 meeting, the COG General Forum voted to allow a Development of Regional Impact application for approximately 28 acres in Harris Township to be brought forward outside of the established review schedule.  Based on the Centre Region Growth Boundary/Sewer Service Area Implementation Agreement, the Centre Regional Planning Commission (CRPC) will review the DRI application at its regular meetings in May and June, and the COG General Forum will review and take action on the application at its regular meeting in June.

On April 17th, Jim Steff, COG's Executive Director, received the Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence.

On February 14, 2012, Principal Transportation Planner Tom Zilla provided the COG Finance Committee with an update on Federal, State, and Local transportation funding issues.
